ENCAUSTIC ART WORKSHOPS

20170407_185206.jpg

I have been painting with wax for the past 7 years and during that time have developed this medium into  a viable art form. I have had art exhibitions in London, Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, Dubai and Los Angeles. From then on it went on to being shown in top interior design showrooms in Cannes and London. A huge part of my market was made to order work where people would give me swatch colours and I would work on commissions, I sold throughout Europe and America.

At present, my Academy is now a full time business and after having a large amount of demand from students asking to learn the technique, I have decided to commence weekend workshops to allow people to learn this incredible, inspiring and profitable art form.'

A BRIEF HISTORY ON GARY'S JOURNEY TO ENCAUSTIC ART

Gary Simmons was born in England in 1958.

He has lived in London, Los Angeles, the Caribbean and the French Riviera.

It was whilst living on the French Riviera, a region rich in history of famous artists, that he discovered an original technique never before seen in the art world. Using heat resistant wax, he created a special formula to produce three dimensional textured paintings unique to this medium. The inspiration came from the sun bleached faded facades of the Mediterranean that had been weathered exposing layers of paint, texture and stories of time gone by. The work resembles ancient eroded relics of art with textures of natural elements in wood, slate, aged stone and oxidised metal. The viewer becomes absorbed in the discovery of the many textures, forms and colours which evoke a feeling of presence, calmness balance and well- being.

Gary has exhibited in London, Paris, Monaco and Cannes. His work has been commissioned by top Interior designers, Hotels, Super- Yachts and private villas on the Cote d'Azur. He has sold in Italy, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Dubai, Ireland, Los Angeles, London and Florida.
